When the optics company, Carl Zeiss, discussed outsourcing the “signage” activity, I, Matthias Wetzel, seized the opportunity and founded Matthias Wetzel INDUSTRIEBESCHRIFTUNGEN GmbH in 1999 in the form of a management buy-out. This enabled me to realise my vision of an efficient signage centre. What began with four employees has now grown to become a team of almost 40 staff. To ensure that we continue to work with specialist professionals in the future, we have provided in-house training since 2004. With the marking and varnishing of high-quality industrial products in the fields of appliance engineering, optical precision appliance engineering, systems and mechanical engineering and electronics and precision tools, our company has developed into an acknowledged surface treatment centre.

We are a manufacturer of equipment and systems for snow blasting and dry ice blasting. Our applications are manual and automated pre-treatment, cleaning, cooling and deburring using CO2 snow blasting. The innovation here is the use of liquid CO2 and compressed air. We hold national and international industrial property rights in this area. We supply high-quality CO2 blasting equipment and a wide range of accessories to customers around the world. During CO2 snow blasting, dry ice particles (solid CO2 at -78 °C) are generated from liquid CO2 in the device, and then run with compressed air via a nozzle to the surface to be cleaned.
